Love should be between persons, not gender. Marriage is about LOVE, not gender.
Yuwalaya with support of Right Here Right Now Nepal and SDGs Studio presented a talk show on the issue of LBGTIQ. The Civil Code, Chapter 3 article 67 defines marriage as a union of a man and a woman who accept each other as a husband and wife through any celebration, ceremony, formal event or any medium.
While the law limits marriage based on gender prohibiting same-gender couples from being married, it also restricts marriage when one or both of the spouses are transgender or non-binary. Despite the law allowing marriage between a man and a woman, it is yet to include transgender men and women. While the constitution guarantees the rights of gender and sexual minorities, our laws do not promise the same thing.
